Your videos stay on your device

Clipie chooses and renders clips on your own computer or phone, and by default transcribes there too. Your videos are never uploaded to us. Their audio is uploaded only if you sign in and switch on Clipie Cloud (below).

What leaves your device, and only when you use it

• AI writing: if you add an AI key (OpenRouter, Groq, OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Qwen or a custom service), the text of the transcript is sent to that service to choose clips and write titles. Their own privacy policy applies. Without a key nothing is sent.
• Links: a video you open from a link is downloaded from that site to your device.
• Updates: the app checks GitHub for new versions.

Clipie Cloud (optional)

• Your account: to use Clipie Cloud you make an account with your email address and a password (and, if you like, your name). Accounts are kept by Supabase, our sign-in provider; your password is stored only in a scrambled form we cannot read.
• Your audio: with Transcribe on Clipie Cloud switched on, the app sends the audio of the part of the video being made, in pieces, over an encrypted connection to Clipie's own server. It is held in memory only while it is transcribed and is never saved to disk. The words are sent back to the app and kept on the server for at most 15 minutes so the app can collect them. The video itself is never sent.
• What we keep: your minutes balance, a record of each change to it (minutes added, the seconds of audio used and when), the app version and kind of device you last opened Clipie on, and when. We use them to run your account, stop minutes being spent twice and help you if something goes wrong.
• Who else handles it: Supabase (accounts and minutes) and Cloudflare (the connection to our server), only to provide the service. We never sell or share your data with anyone else.
• Deleting: email us from the address on your account and we delete the account and its records, except what tax and accounting rules require us to keep for payments.

When you buy Pro or Clipie Cloud minutes

You send us your email address, your transaction ID, a screenshot of the payment and your computer's Clipie code. We use them only to check the payment, send your license key and help you if something goes wrong, and keep them for our records as long as tax and accounting rules require. We never sell or share them, except with the payment service you chose, as part of the payment itself. For minutes, the screenshot is matched to the email address of your Clipie account.

No tracking

The app has no analytics and no advertising. An account is needed only for Clipie Cloud. Your Pro license key is checked on your computer, without contacting us.
